Introduction

1836: by order of king Louis-Philippe Ist, town's mayors carry out the first official registration list on their town, by applying ministerial orders. Therefore, residents are grouped into families, names, first names, age, religion, profession, civil status, addresses are noted for each resident.

The CD-ROMs "Census1836" contain:
  • A given database of the individuals recorded on the census of 1836 of an area. The division of the area is that of 1836, which may be slightly different from today's one,
  • A consulting program, completely in english, which includes an easy fonctionnal search system, that enables the user to find a person by name, or name and village. Also a more elaborate search enabling to locate a person, by their first names, profession, religion, age or civil status.

    For each person, grouped into families, the information given is, surname, first names, age, profession, civil status, addresse and many other observations that may be noted on the register.
